Mindy began her career at the Ottawa Hospital-Civic Campus working in the in-patient psychiatric unit after receiving her Master’s in Social Work (Carleton University, 1979). She focused on individual counselling and re-integrating the patients to their home and community.
Soon after, Mindy began working at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) in 1981 and continued there until her retirement in 2015. During her extensive career at CHEO, Mindy worked on the in-patient psychiatric unit, as well as day-treatment and eating disorder programs for children and youth. The focus of her work was individual and family assessments and counselling, as well as group therapy with teenagers. Mindy worked in the many outpatient medical clinics, with a particular focus on Inflammatory Bowel Disease, neurological disorders, and chronic pain. The focus of intervention was helping families and children/youth cope with a chronic medical condition.
At CHEO, Mindy supervised social work students and established the Education Committee, as well as the Professional Practice Committee. She has also been trained in brief-solution focused therapy and motivational interviewing, and she is a certified decision coach for the Family Decision Services at CHEO.
Mindy’s expertise is in psycho-social assessments and counselling with children/youth and families with a medical illness or mental health issue, and crisis intervention. At Goldstein, Moncion, Greenbaum and Associates, Mindy will use this expertise in a number of different roles, including liaising with community agencies and assisting families in accessing appropriate resources.
Mindy is a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
